Welcome to Missouri American Water
Missouri American Water is your local water and wastewater company.
Our lives revolve around water. It’s somehow involved in everything thing we do, everything we use. We are experts in water and wastewater treatment. Every day, we put our expertise to work to produce better quality water for our customers.
In Missouri, we serve approximately 1.5 million people in more than 150 communities, supplying high quality water, and wastewater service. We abide by regulations, invest in our vast infrastructure, promote wise water use, and help out in the cities and towns that we serve. Because water and wastewater service is such an integral part of life, we take pride in taking care of it.
In Missouri, the Missouri Public Service Commission sets the rules and we carefully follow them. These regulations help to ensure that everyone is receiving quality water and wastewater services at a fair price. All increases in service rates are directly related to the cost of providing high quality service and are subject to a public review process and review and approval by the Missouri Public Service Commission.
In addition, Missouri American Water follows strict regulations created by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) and Missouri Department of Natural Resources (MoDNR). Because we work in cooperation with the USEPA to help in the development of national drinking water standards, we are often years ahead of the industry in implementing regulations. Every eligible water treatment plant in our Missouri system is a ten-year plus member of the Partnership for Safe Water. The Partnership is a national voluntary initiative developed by the USEPA and other water organizations to recognize water suppliers that consistently achieve water treatment standards that surpass USEPA regulatory requirements. Fewer than one percent of water utilities in the U.S. have achieved this recognition.
