Keeping customers informed is one of our main priorities. We communicate regularly in a variety of ways that help us provide high-quality customer service, as well as high-quality water service. Rights and Responsibilities 

Learn more about your rights as a residential water customer and the responsibilities of the company.

Bill Inserts:

From time to time, we receive requests for electronic copies of our bill inserts. Please feel free to print these out and use them as handouts.

  • My H2O Online: Find out what you can do from the comfort of your own home using our convenient web self service tool.
  • Cold Weather Tips: Frozen pipes can wreak havoc and require costly repairs and cleanup. To help protect your pipes in cold winter weather, keep these helpful tips in mind.
  • Wise Water Use: Helpful tips on how save water inside and outside your home. Remember, saving water can also save you money!
  • Water Quality: Last year, New York American Water met or surpassed all federal and state drinking water standards.
  • Iron and Your Drinking Water: Iron is naturally present in the groundwater on Long Island. Learn what we're doing about it and find the answers to some commonly asked questions.
  • We Are Invested: Learn about our infrastructure improvements
  • Speakers Bureau: New York American Water places a strong emphasis on educating customers about water, the one resource that’s essential to life. Value of Water Campaign

New York American Water partnered with the National Association of Water Utilities to educate customers on the value of tap water service. These ads were underwritten by NAWC and were published in the Herald.

American Water works hard to create, communicate, deliver and exchange offerings that have value and educate customers, partners, government officials and society at large.

Therefore, we are delighted when our work, commitment and vision are recognized in professional communications awards.

2009 ReBrand 100 Global Awards
ReBrand 100 distinguishes itself from other brand competitors by basing its selections on the achievement of effective, measurable results of entrants' rebranding efforts. Winners must demonstrate that they applied deliberate and strategic planning in evolving, extending or transforming their brands.

American Water's brand was awarded the 2009 Notable ReBrand 100 Global Award. 

30th Annual Telly Awards
The Telly Awards honor the very best local, regional, and cable television commercials and programs, as well as the finest video and film productions, and work created for the Web. 

American Water was given bronze awards for the IPO Video in the 30th Annual Telly Awards in these categories:

- Corporate Image
- Employee Communications
- Public Relations

There were more than 14,000 entries in the 2009 show and only those entries that were recognized by the judges as being distinctive were named winners.

The IPO Video can be viewed on the American Water website by clicking on the "American Water Videos" link on the homepage of the site, or by going directly to http://www.amwatervideos.com/shell.aspx. From there, choose the first video "IPO Video."

Interactive Media Awards
The Interactive Media Awards™ recognize the highest standards of excellence in Web site design and development and honor individuals and organizations for their outstanding achievement.

American Water's Web site earned an Outstanding Achievement Award from the Interactive Media Awards in the "utilities" category. 

2008 MarCom Awards
MarCom Awards is an international competition for marketing and communication professionals involved in the concept, writing and design of marketing and communication programs and print, visual and audio materials. Entries come from corporate marketing and communication departments, advertising agencies, PR firms, design shops, production companies and freelancers.

Of the more than 5,000 entries worldwide, American Water won 37 MarCom Awards - 11 platinum, 14 gold and 12 honorable mentions.

2008 Communicator Awards
The Communicator Awards is a national awards show honoring excellence in communications. The annual show honors the best in advertising, corporate communications and public relations as well as interactive and video. There were more than 8,000 entries this year.

The following American Water communication's received the highest honor - The "Award of Excellence" 

2008 American Graphic Design Awards
The American Graphic Design Awards is a competition open to advertising agencies, graphic design firms, corporations, institutions, publishers, and more. It honors outstanding work of all kinds and across all media: print and collateral, advertising and sales promotion, corporate identity and logos, internet and interactive design, package and point of sale materials, and motion graphics.

For the 2008 competition, more than 10,000 entries were received. Of these, a highly selective 15 percent are recognized with a certificate of excellence.

The following American Water communication's pieces were named winners:

2008 San Diego Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) annual Edward L. Bernays Mark of Excellence Awards
The PRSA's annual Edward L. Bernays Mark of Excellence Awards recognizes the industry’s finest public relations campaigns, tactics and professionals, in categories including media relations, community relations, crisis communications and special events.

American Water received awards for the following:

  • California American Water team won the Public Relations Society of America San Diego chapter Silver Award of Excellence in the campaign category for the Monterey "Spring into Action" conservation campaign. 
  • The single piece "Spring into Action" conservation wheel mailer won the Bronze Award of Excellence.
