Frequently Asked Questions about The
In-Home Plumbing Emergency Program
Q. What’s the AWR In-Home Plumbing Emergency Program?
A. It covers repairs to your home’s interior water and sewer pipes. An overflowing toilet, clogged bathroom sink, broken water pipe under your sink, or backed up bathroom drain are just a few examples of the protection you'll receive under this Program. Sign up today and American Water Resources will cover the cost of repairing the interior service lines of your home – up to $3,000 worth ($1,500 for internal water pipes and $1,500 for internal sewer pipes).
Q. I’m on a budget. How much does it cost?
A. It’s very affordable. For just 13¢ day, $3.99 a month, $47.88 a year*, protect yourself from costly repairs associated with your in-home plumbing. You pay a flat $50 service fee when a qualified plumber is dispatched to your home. You’ll have peace-of-mind knowing that your repairs will not only be covered within the generous protection limits, but handled promptly and professionally.

Q. My pipes are behind walls and under cabinets. How can I tell if there’s a problem?
A. If you see water where it’s not supposed to be – like under the bathroom sink, dripping down the walls, or running down the stairs – you probably have a plumbing problem in your home. And it’s time to call AWR.
Q. What do I do when I have an in-home plumbing emergency?
A. You should call 1-866-430-0819 immediately. AWR has representatives available 24/7 to assist you with a repair claim or to answer any other questions.
Q. What are the most common claims covered by The In-Home Plumbing Emergency Program?
- Blockage on laundry drain line
- Blockage on toilet drain line
- Leaks in water line before the shutoff valve to things like a toilet, sink, and appliance.
- Leaks in water line between the main shutoff into house and where the line splits to the various appliances and areas of the home.
Q. Can anyone sign up for the In-Home Plumbing Emergency Program?
A. If you own a residential home, single-family or townhouse, you are eligible to enroll in the program. If you live in a condominium or apartment, you’re also eligible – but you must have ownership and maintenance responsibility for the water supply and wastewater drainage systems.
Q. I have insurance for my home. Does it cover the internal plumbing?
A. Probably not. Most homeowners’ insurance policies do not cover repairs to your internal water and sewer lines for issues caused by normal wear and tear. Since internal water and sewer line repairs are your responsibility, it’s a good idea to enroll in The In-Home Plumbing Protection Program from AWR.
Q. You state that The In-Home Plumbing Protection Program provides up to $3,000 in protection against costly repairs. What happens if the repairs are more than that?
A. If the cost of the repairs exceed the program’s limit of protection ($1,500 for internal water line repair and $1,500 for internal wastewater line repair), then you, the homeowner, would be responsible for any additional costs. However, most repairs are completely covered under the generous protection limits of the In-Home Plumbing Protection Program.
